I cannot comment on use of it because I just bought it. However, I’m concerned with car scratches, and one of hooks sits rather tightly in the seam of my 2014 Ford Escape’s hatchback.
It is doubtful I can put a protective material in with the hook, so am searching for some type of tape material to assist.
Otherwise, testing it out, it seems secure on the car, and the quality of the product seems high.
I am very impressed with e trailer’s service and website.
Had to return the rack because it said in the owner manual that it was not the right one for our Tesla model even though your website said it was. Very confusing, matching car models to racks, but customer service was good about exchanging it for the proper model.
Service was excellent. Won't be using the rack until it warms up a bit.

The bicycle rack is well designed and light, it is very easy to install just by one person. Once I tightened up the straps this rack is well secured and it did the great job as described.

Works well with my Macan. The rack can be secured easily and can comfortably hold 3 bikes and varying sizes. The adjustable arms ensure that the bikes do not come into contact with the car or the other bikes!
Can’t review the bike rack as it’s a gift for someone. But order process was easy, shipped quickly and arrived on time. Communication was awesome. And shipping was free.
have used it several times. first time I injured my shoulder getting it fitted correctly and loading bike in it, so it took a while for my shoulder to heal and gain confidence to give it a try again. this spring it was much better, already setup for the mounting, and easier to load
product has a solid frame, however I am returning the product due to the side hooks not securing properly on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The top and bottom straps fit via the 'anchor' mode but the side straps do not fit flush below the tail lights where the Yakima fit site instructs them to go, and there is no alternative spot.
This was my first time using etrailer.com, but I would buy again from here. Ordered my bike rack and received it in less than 3 days which is amazing for the size of the product. The rack itself took me like 10-15 minutes to get it set up and handles putting bikes on it like a champ. The rubber straps are a little harder to get on and off unlike what the videos shows but that's my only con.
I have now owned my Yakima HangOut 3 Bike Rack a year now and have had it mounted on my 2017 Jeep Renegade full time and hauled bike all across my home state and to three other states. I have had no issues and the bikes are well secured.
I have to say it only took about 15 minutes to attach to my car (2014 Mercedes E350). I placed one adult and two children bikes on the rack. Definitely have to make sure there is room between the rack and the car for the first bike petal. Other than that, all three had plenty of room. The rubber snaps were a little difficult to stretch, but once connected it was very strong. I really like the plastic guides on the top bar to help support each bike. And for etrailer.com? They were spot on...perfect communication with honest estimates (shipping dates), and outstanding customer service. I highly recommend!!!
Got this for our 2013 Ford Escape for a 4 hour trip we were making on roads varying from highway to back roads. The installation is easy if you take the time to plan out the straps and follow the directions. Lots of rubber and padding to keep from scratching the car. It seemed pretty solid even with the sway. It was a little weird when we tightened things down the top bar came off the glass. It didn't affect the performance, but it did make for a little concern going down the road. If we loosened things up to keep the bar on the glass it was too loose to prevent sway.
Purchased hangout 3 bike rack. Put 3 bikes on, one a kid’s bike, and it left multiple dents in our Acura MDX. Can’t imagine we’ll use it again and are now stuck with a dented up car.

The Yakima Hangout 3 is Confirmed as a fit for your MDX, our fit notes indicate that the outerlower support frame rests on the lower portion of the license plate below the numbers. The individual bike weight limit for this rack is 35 pounds, and the combined weight limit is 90 pounds.

I 've just opened the box and do not qualify to give a review. What I see looks very well made, but I have concerns about the upper straps location. I have a spoiler on my 2016 Ford Edge Titanium that will not allow me to have the straps over the top. The hinge points at the top of the spoiler are my only connection point to provide strap support. The hinge point looks adequate, but the strap hook appears to be too wide to make that connection. Any suggestions before I return bike rack?

The Yakima HangOut 3 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle, but youll need to use the glass hatch hooks included with the rack. With the glass hatch hooks, youd be limited to carrying 2 bikes on the rack, due to the weight.
Easy to setup from the pics and works well on Volvo 2023 XC90. No dents and straps are sturdy. Directions/links are a bit wonky but easy to figure out the spacing between support bars with some quick internet searches.
Decent little rack. I mounted this on a 2020 Jeep Renegade 4x4 Limited. It was difficult to get set up and as a ton of slack on the tie downs. I just cut them and burned the nylon since this is the only vehicle that this rack will ever be on. Secured one bike, rode well with little movement. Secured two bikes, a little wiggle. Secured three bikes and I was not comfortable at all!!
The bikes I loaded are a Giant Stance 1 29er Full Suspension, Trek Marlin 5 hardtail and a Liv Bliss 2. The total of weight of these 3 bikes is 92 pounds, shouldn't be that big of an issue... however, when looking at the directions on Yakima site, it says that 90 pounds includes the weight of the rack?!?!?! I mean come on be real as to what people can put on their rack without the weight of the rack. I would not buy this again if I had the choice.

I have a 2017 Acura RDX. I had to be creative for the hooks and straps to work. The lower strap hook is not compatible with my hatch. And I really didn't want to have them hook under my plastic bumper, so I shut the straps in the hatch and hooked them to 2 hooks I have in the trunk. Works perfect. A picture is attached.
I have a Cannondale Bad Girl, which is the dumbest bike ever designed ( but that is a different review forum) so I had to be creative getting it mounted like I usually do. Works great.
The only reason I gave this a 4 star is because I don't believe the hooks are really compatible with the RDX, unless you have an awesome spouse willing to get shut in the trunk and place the hooks for you while you tighten from the outside.
etrailer.com has the best customer service I have dealt with in a while. Fantastic crew!
While the rack arrived on-time and the website said it would fit 3 bikes, it didn’t. The installation was impossible with the auto open/close feature standard on my car and the instructions in the box said it would not support 3 bikes. Had I known either of these issues I would have never purchased the rack. Now I am skied to pay to return if a return label is ever sent.
